Crush Your Drives and Keep it in Play

By Jack Moorehouse, howtobreak80.com

So you want to drive like Tiger and putt like Ben Crenshaw, huh?
Don’t we all?

Long drives and accuracy are a bit like oil and water in terms
of a combination but they don’t have to be.  Just imagine if
you could hit your drives consistently in the fairway 250
yards + nearly every time…wouldn’t that make the game a
lot easier…and fun?

Having a good tee ball is critical to your confidence and
placing the ball where you can score.  We all can get easily
frustrated when things go sideways with the driver, so I’m
going to share you with you some secrets on how to get the
most distance from your tee ball while keeping it accurate.

There are basically three elements to being able to get the
distance and accuracy you desire with the driver.

1. You must have a good handle on the clubhead and have
complete control of it.  There are two things to check when dealing
with club face control.  First, you need to check your grip.  Second,
you need to see if you have the ability to hit a ball to the left and to
the right.  If you can do both of those, you should be able to split the
difference and hit the ball straight.  Now, I’m not talking about being
able to work the ball like a trick shot artist…just know how to bend it
a little right or left when needed. (Hint: Open the clubface to hit a
fade, close it slightly for a draw)

Want to improve your swing power? Two keys to a better golf swing

Here is a great tip for all golfers out there:

By Les Miller,
Contributor

Many good players have very different looking golf swings, but they all have two things in common during their impact position:

Good players retain wrist-cock through the impact zone, as well as maintain a strong solid base during the hitting area. These two areas of the golf swing set the good player apart from the high-handicapper.

Strong solid base upon impact: To create power during a golf swing, golfers need to have a solid base as they strike the ball. In all sports, a solid base creates power.

When a boxer throws a punch, it starts with the power in the lower body. As they start to punch, they step off their back foot and throw their weight into the direction of the punch. The legs are slightly bent, but there is tension within them, which helps keep the lower body in a powerful position.

Our Ruby Course

Our Ruby course is a Par 70 layout that can play up to 5900 yards from the Blue Tees. Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes on the Ruby course. The term Risk/reward best describes this course that begins with a short but challenging 1st hole where the player must decide on laying up or attempting to carry the large pond on the left side of the hole. The par 5 4th hole is heavily guarded with trees and fairway bunkers on your 1st and 2nd shots while the pond behind the green will rinse any balls that carry too far on your approach shot. The par 3 9th hole plays up to 174 yards with trees on either side of the green and a large pond in the back. The par 4 11th hole is another risk/reward type of hole. A long tee shot leaves a short iron approach to the green but be careful of the ponds on the left and right as you hit your tee shot. Our par 3 17th hole is truly one the most beautiful holes on the golf course as it’s nestled underneath the Niagara Escarpment. It features a pond and bunkers in front with a menacing hazard behind the green. An accurate tee shot is a must here. The Ruby course is fair but challenging to even the most seasoned golfer.

Our Cobalt Course
Our Cobalt course is a Par 72 layout that can play up to 6500 yards from the Blue tees. The 1st hole offers up a challenging risk/reward type of shot on this dogleg left par 4. The lengthy par 5 4th hole features “out-of-bounds” down the entire left hand side, with 2 strategically placed ponds guarding your approach shot to the green. The par 4 12th hole boasts a menacing water hazard that stretches down the right hand side of the hole so an accurate tee shot is a must here. The par 4 18th hole is a medium length dog-leg left that rewards an accurate tee shot to the corner of the dog-leg. The player is then faced with one final challenge as they play their approach shot to a heavily guarded green with a water hazard in front and trees behind. The Cobalt course is sure to test your every ability as you enjoy the scenery on the Niagara Escarpment.
